Duolingo has changed, so I’m not sure now since I’ve not used it it ages. Babbel feels very suited to learning to use a language (it starts with basic things you would need when visiting the country). Duolingo, when I used it, was more gamified and “fun”. Free is nice too. Babbel you have to pay for (although they have had good deals on lifetime plans).
Wonderful post Kim! I am glad to see someone else interested in ancestry here. I still use Duolingo for learning languages. The deeper you get into the language the more in depth it gets.
I exhausted the Swedish tree in duolingo, but I haven’t logged back in to see what’s been added. Such a nice resource. My kids even get assigned it for practice at school.
Doulingo is great for the kids in school. My daughter was a long term sub last year for a middle school and two languages and she had the kids all use Duo as part of their lessons.
Do you like Duolingo or Babbel better?

That’s good to know. I’m using Duolingo now for Italian, but I don’t feel like I’m learning deeply enough.
