The Garden of Belonging Podcast
In attempt to bring some order to the archive of my podcast that I imported to Substack, below is a helpful season by season capture.
This podcast is an exploration of what it means to belong to ourselves. It is also a companion to my own journey of stepping away from people pleasing and stepping into myself.
Season 1 - Your Truest Voice
When you spend a lot of your life listening to the authority of others, you may end up silencing yourself. I began by exploring my own voice. What was it that I wanted to say but always held back?
This season revolved around the following questions:
What do the words “your truest voice” mean to you?
What holds us back from using our voices?
What helps us free our voices and what do we gain by doing so?
What voices do you think the world needs to hear more from?
Season 2 - Honoring Ourselves
Once we have a sense of our own voice, how do we honor it? This is the exploration of season 2.
The questions for this season were:
what does it look like to honor ourselves on a budget?
what gets in the way of honoring ourselves?
what do we do when honoring ourselves means doing something uncomfortable?
how do we balance short term and long term work of honoring ourselves?
how do you honor yourself, joys and successes, when you are surrounded by people in pain?
Season 3 - Radical Self-Trust
Once we learn to listen to and honor our voices, we need trust. I needed to trust that my voice was worthy of being heard; that my ideas and opinions mattered. I needed the courage to be seen.
We explore:
what does radical self-trust mean to us?
what is it like when we don’t trust ourselves?
what happens when we trust ourselves and go against the grain?
how do we handle the naysayers?
how do you balance the voices of experts with your own inner voice?
Season 4 - Bravely Blooming
With a better understanding of our voices, the time and space to honor them, and the trust to express them; we are ready to bloom! How do we step out with courage to fully be ourselves?
We explore:
ways we bloom bravely in our lives
practices, habits, and structures that support our ability to bloom bravely
supporting others to bloom bravely
